Collision Investigation and Reconstruction

Collision Reconstructions are intensive investigations to determine all of the causative factors leading up to the actual collision, inclusive of all injuries and/or fatalities, and human factors associated with the crash.  A traffic crash investigation / reconstruction critically analyses the pre-collision, collision, and post-collision phases of a crash.  In this type of investigation, the overriding objective is to find the crash evidence, and use it to determine the cause(s) for the collision.

A traffic crash investigation / reconstruction may contain the following elements:

  • Roadway Environmental Report
  • Driver Profiles
  • Physical Evidence Analysis and Scene Diagram
  • Vehicle Damage Description and Analysis
  • Vehicle Dynamics Diagram
  • Causation Analysis
  • Print, Digital, and / or Video Documentation
  • Occupant Kinematics Analysis
  • Autopsy and Injury Analysis / Description
  • Speed and Energy Calculations
  • Time-Distance Studies and Diagram
  • Conclusions, Recommendations and Opinions
